About Us
Thatcham Rugby Club was formed in 1981. The club ground is located within the Henwick Worthy Playing Fields. The club colours are Blue and Red.
The club fields 2 senior sides most Saturday's and in season 2007-08 the First XV will play in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon League Division 1 South.
Thatcham 2nd XV is made up from a mix of young and more experienced players captained by the veteran, Malcolm Ross. Bearing in mind the club's plans for promotion and growth, the second team plays a key role by providing support and competition for places in the first team. It also gives a platform for new and young players where they can play alongside more experienced club members to develop their skills and enjoy the game of rugby. This season has seen the second team grow with a lot of support from within the club. A combination of this growth and a high degree of enthusiasm will, we expect, be a springboard for entering the 2nd XV into a league next season. The club also has a relationship with Aldermaston 2nd's who play in the Thames Valley Invitation league. Thatcham 2nds support them by providing players in order to get as many people as possible playing rugby. These games are played at Aldermaston or are away fixtures. New players of all ages and ability are always welcome at the club so if you would like to come and play Rugby with a local, ambitious and friendly club please feel free to contact anyone on the Contact Us pages or just come to training on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7.30pm.
